Paris & The New Math (single), Jarcrew
Now here’s something you don’t see everyday – an original and exciting band who hail from Wales. In the past the country has given us the likes of Catatonia, the Stereophonics, and, even worse, the Lostprophets. Jarcrew really are something against the norm, not just in terms of Welsh music. They defy categorisation and are equally at home playing pop songs as they are hardcore or ten-minute instrumental epics.

‘Paris & The New Math’ is the first single to be taken from the bands re-released debut album, ‘Breakdance Euphoria Kids’, on Gut Records. The single is available from Jarcrew’s website, and can be downloaded for the bargain price of two of your English pounds. ‘Paris & The New Math’ is a superb slice of the electro rock Jarcrew do so well. Imagine At The Drive In and Fugazi throw together with more energy and you will have an idea of what this track is about. Next up is ‘Radar’, a song that showcases another, more subtle side to the band. It’s an instrumental piece that slowly builds to a striking climax. Third, and final track, ‘Squadron #9’ is probably the pick of the bunch. Kicking off with muted guitars it explodes into a wave of energy and sound that just keeps going, particularly on the great chorus.

If you are yet to hear Jarcrew, I suggest you get over to their site and download this single. They are a genuinely unique group and have the talent to go a very long way in this business.
