Lengths and Limits, Makeout Party
This is a gorgeous record. It kind of mizes up very small elements of Jimmy Eat World, Minus The Bear, Limbeck and some early Deep Elm bands and rolls them up into one ball of beauty. There are so many melodies and harmonies going on, even though this record is a bit of a slow starter. For me it's not until track three or four when the real goodness starts to flow and once you get the jangly indie rock of 'General Sherman Lost His Arm' and the 'Clarity'-esque 'Left You Behind' you're lost in a sea of passionate, emotive songs which mean something but also sound brilliant. Look past the relatively purile name and find a band with pomp, majesty and a clutch of brilliant little songs.
