Building An Empire, Hollywood Lies
Hollywood Lies are the anthesis to the central LA party scene, the Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan's of this world that descend on parties. In their own words, 'LA is a good place to be when you're a success'. So 'Building An Empire' is an album written from the small band's point of view, a look in at the scene and the people that are within it. And to be fair it's a decent effort. 'Building An Empire' is a predominantly catchy affair which proves the band can write a tune. And while their ideas don't always come off effectively - the multi-layered vocals on 'Southbound Train' sound a little messy as the track progresses - at least they're not afraid to give it a whirl. There are more hits than misses and while the band's sound isn't the most original around they do it in a way that doesn't sound too tired.

Hollywood Lies are a pretty new band and I'm certain we'll be hearing more of them in the future.
