Borne from the ashes of south London tech punks Breakneck, Giants Fall are an altogether heavier prospect. There's still the tech element to the band - 'Paper Cups and String' has some awesome riffs and drums, for instance - but while the band previously worshipped the likes of Belvedere and didn't stray too much away from that formula, bands like Comeback Kid and those with a more metallic edge are the ones influencing the new band. And to tell the truth the band sound all the better for it. The sound is much more full and rounded and the songs sound more 'mature'. And while I don't mean to use that word in a condescending fashion, there's definitely more depth to the songwriting which makes each track sound great. As a five-track introduction to the band this little EP works a treat; I'll be keeping an eye on their progression for sure.
