Last Laugh sound a bit like Pennywise crossed with Ixnay-era Offspring. It's a real throwback to mid-90s skate punk, with guitar riffs peeled off and breakneck drums thudding from all angles. Sadly for Last Laugh, at times the joke is on them. Too many tracks blend into another and while their socio-political take on things is admirable, only a few songs stand out as being worthy of multiple listens. 'No Regrets', sadly, is just a bit dull.
There are a couple of half decent efforts here mind. 'Taken Away' features a pretty good vocal performance and some solid drums, which to be fair are a highlight throughout. 'At The Top' stands out too. That said, 'Overboard' tries to do too much, as does opener 'Dutch Oven'. The band are at their best when they peel off guitar riffs and shred like it's going out of fashion, but while bands like A Wilhelm Scream and Latterman are powerful and in-yer-face, Last Laugh sound a bit flat and ultimately disappoint.
