Ahead of their debut album release in April, Temples on Mars have put together a playlist of some of the music that's influenced them.

01 Thrice – ‘Firebreather’

Gerald: The perfect song – heavy/quiet, loud/soft, beautifully sung, great lyrics, and goosebumps crescendo.

02 Alice in Chain – ‘Them Bones’

Daz: This was one of the first tracks I learned with odd timing – and it still grooves massively.

03 Porcupine Tree – ‘Mother and Child Divided’

Dean : My first introduction to the legend of Steven Wilson.

04 Cancer Bats – ‘Hail Destroyer’

Dean: Pure adrenaline! I was a late comer to the party as Gerald only introduced me to them a few months ago!

05 Tool – ‘Stinkfist’

James: I can’t ignore the effect this band has had on me, my life, and the memories it has bought with it. This track is just huge!

06 Gallops – ‘Darkjewel’

Gerald: A perfect example of how you can mix electronic music with guitar based music.

07 Nine Inch Nails – ‘Hurt’

Daz: The most perfect song ever written! Apart from Firebreather.

08 Bring me the Horizon  – ‘Throne’

James: In recent years these guys have grown a lot on me and I dig the energy of this track. A touch of Linkin Park influence in there too!

09 Alpha Male Tea Party – ‘I Still Live At Home’

Gerald: Love the guitar sound! He is not afraid to drench his guitar in effects, something I love doing.

10 Mastodon – ‘Oblivion’

James: Both a big influence on Gerald and myself, this is one of their defining tracks and I love how dark and foreboding the opening notes are.
