We have the pleasure of bringing you the video premiere of ClownSmashEverything’s song ‘This City Needs Assassins,’ ahead of the release of their debut album “The Bombs are Getting Closer,” on December 1st.
In their own words, they describe the track as “inspired by our experiences in bands and the fact that, in any scene, in any town in the world, certain people will try to shoot you down for deviating from that scene’s particular norm or formula. It’s lazy thinking. They’ll label you “weird” or “complicated” just to strengthen their own identity without ever leaving their cultural comfort zone. We started the song with a super-melodic chorus and forced it somewhere angular and nasty as a reaction to that.”
“Of course, this applies to individuals as well. Some people celebrate differences in others, some not so much. The idea behind ‘This City Needs Assassins’ is that the best way to react to this elitism is to treat them as compliments. Use them. Celebrate your own differences. Seriously, Bring It On. Send All Your Assassins. Every Little Helps.”
