Stream Newcastle trio ILSER’s new track, ‘Sleep Again’

By Ben Tipple

Newcastle trio ILSER have grunge running through their veins. Not in the of-the-moment grunge revivalist way but rather channeling the raw sound of the 90s, complete with the tinges of metal (although never stepping in any further than a little toe dipping.)

On ‘Sleep Again’, the second track to appear from the band’s forthcoming debut ‘Reverie’ EP, guitarist and vocalist Rachael Whittle continues her off-kilter warbling, slurred with ease and dangerously raw. It’s matched by the low-key production, playing a big part in its 90s sound.

“The release of ‘Reverie’ is a milestone we’ve been hurtling towards for a very long time,” Whittle explains. “We’ve been playing these tracks live for over a year now and ‘Sleep Again’ ranks among our favourites. The inspiration behind the track is dreary – but we think there’s something quite uplifting about how it’s turned out.”

‘Sleep Again’ will be available as part of ‘Reverie’ from the 22nd April 2016. ILSER will be playing a number of shows in the coming months, including:
