Skating Polly show off their heavier side with ‘Hey Sweet’

By Ben Tipple

“We used to hate being called punk,” Skating Polly recently told us, before going on to accept the inevitable association with genres. It’s understandable; the step-sister duo draw from far more than just one style on their forthcoming ‘The Big Fit’ LP, a counterargument to the notion of fitting in.

‘Hey Sweet’, their latest videoed track to emerge from the record, is their most brash to date. There’s a spitting level of venom underpinned by deeply fuzzy guitars and unsettling lyrics. “Be quiet, this won’t hurt too badly, I’ll just take your skin,” the duo sneer.

It’s a far cry from their more melodious ‘Pretective Boy’ or the grunge-infused ‘Oddie Moore’, but carries with it the same unrelenting attitude.

Skating Polly will be releasing ‘The Big Fit’ on the 8th April in Europe, and have already dropped the record stateside. The record is available to stream in full courtesy of She Shreds Magazine.
