Prepare yourself for LeeFest’s Skull Ridge with this playlist

By Ben Tipple

Lee Danny did what most sixteen year-olds would do when givenĀ the run of the house with one specific warning, no house parties. He completely disregarding his parents’ words of warning and organised his biggest party yet. Inviting friends to build a stage, haul in someĀ sound equipment and even assemble a bar, LeeFest was born. Ten years later, we doubt his parents are still angry.

Evolving still, the tenth year of LeeFest sees the festival expand into a fantasy wonderland. The Neverland is built not only around music, but around the creative attitude that helped form the event back in 2006. Split into three distinct sectors, each boasts a different musical and artistic attitude. The one with the skull? Well, that is our spiritual home.

Skull Ridge or Skull Rock, or both, is the festival’s dystopian hub. Words used on the official LeeFest website include anarchistic, futuristic and pirate, of course. It will be home to grunge, punk, rock and hip-hop come the 28th to the 30th July. Current confirmed artists include Dinosaur Pile-Up, Tuff Love, Get Inuit, Fort Hope, Queen Kwong and more, with LeeFest allĀ about discovery. Even the announced headliners are comparably underground, namely Lianne La Havas and Ghostpoet.

“We’re super excited to be at this years Lee Fest,” say Dinosaur Pile-Up. “We’re always into rocking on the festival scene, and with LeeFest being such a great one we can’t wait.”

Visually The Neverland is bearing resemblance to Tomorrowland and Boomtown, a fully immersive experience. The location remains secret, although will be nearĀ Tunbridge Wells in Kent. For more details and ticket information head to the LeeFest website.
