Join Meet Me In Montauk’s emo party in their ‘Please Don’t, It’ll Only Make Things Worse’ vid

We’ve all felt that way at a party. Surrounded by friends, food and beer, yet distant and largely disinterested. It’s a showcase for Meet Me In Montauk’s more defined sound, moving slightly away from the retrospective emo sound that dominated ‘Where The Grass Meets The Pavement‘ in favour of a rougher contemporary punk edge.

According to the band, ‘Dork Soul’ – from which ‘Please Don’t, It’ll Only Make Things Worse’ is taken – is “really a culmination of our efforts over the past year. The variety in this album is something we’re really satisfied with and it’s also something we hope people are down with. We kind of found that when we really start writing as a unit the end result is something that we can all agree and love to play live especially.”

‘Please Don’t, It’ll Only Make Things Worse’ is a reflection of their new sound and ambition. “The one-take thing is something we’ve always liked so we said, let’s get after it,” guitarist Bart Thompson explains. “The video was shot in Nathan’s and mine’s house. We last minute invited a bunch of people over to shoot a 1 take video, luckily it only took one try so we didn’t have to resupply on silly string and confetti.”

‘Dork Soul’ will be available from the 15th February 2016 and is available to pre-order now via BandCamp, where you can also stream three previously revealed tracks, ‘Fuck You Song’, ‘Party Pressure’ and ‘Tough Girl’.
