Guest Playlist: Wall of Sound’s Lee Jackson shares his top 10 tracks of the week

We’re privileged to have the company of Wall of Sound publicist Lee Jackson, who has curated a top 10 playlist for your listening pleasure. In a new weekly column, we’ll be inviting Lee to add 10 tracks to the playlist each week, making sure you’re never short of new music to kick off your Monday morning.

As the drummer of Worcester punk’n’roll band Fights and Fires, Lee was first introduced to punk rock at the age of 10, after seeing The Offspring perform ‘Pretty Fly For A White Guy’ on Top Of The Pops in 1999. His career in music started by promoting punk rock shows at his local football club at the age of 14, and is still regularly promoting in Worcester 15 years on. His publicist career started with Lockjaw Records, before progressing to running Worcester-based company Saviour PR, and then joining Wall of Sound PR in September 2015.

Big Nothing – Glorea

Philadelphia four-piece, Big Nothing, released their debut EP through Asian Man Records back in July. Supreme melodic punk rock from the members of Spraynard, Young Livers, Crybaby and Casual.

Counterparts – Arms Like Teeth

Canadian riff-lords, Counterparts have just released their new album, ‘You’re Not You Anymore’ through Pure Noise Records. Having just completed this year’s Warped Tour, catch the band in the UK this November.

Pears – Arduous Angel

The manic-punks are back, following up 2016’s ‘Green Star’ with ‘Arduous Angel’ – taken from the upcoming split with Direct Hit, out on November 3 through Fat Wreck Chords. Catch them on tour everywhere, all the time (including the UK with Rise Against this November).

Open City – Whose God?

Open City, who feature members of Bridge And Tunnel, Paint It Black, Ceremony, Lifetime, Kid Dynamite and Ted Leo & the Pharmacists released their dynamic, post-hardcore, angst-filled debut album back in May. Pure ragers from the Philadelphia “supergroup”.

Hodera – North Dakota

‘North Dakota’ is the lead single from the New Jersey quartet, Hodera’s upcoming second album, set for release through Take This To Heart Records on the 20th October. They will be touring all over North America before the end of the year.

Russian Girlfriends – Anxiety Attack

Fast, furious and fun rock ‘n’ roll straight from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Having just re-released their debut album ‘All Around’ through Gunner Records, Russian Girlfriends have just finished up a UK and EU tour.

Prawn – Snake Oil Salesman

Following up 2014’s ‘Kingfisher’, Prawn’s new full-length, ‘Run’, is out now through Top Shelf Records. Criminally underrated indie/emo-vibes. On tour in the UK and Europe now with The Flatliners.

Comeback Kid – Surrender Control

Comeback Kid have once again shown why they are the kings of punk-hardcore with their new 13-track album, ‘Outsider’ – out now through Nuclear Blast. On tour in the UK this November with Every Time I Die.

GBH – Momentum

The Birmingham-based punk legends are alive and very much kicking. ‘Momentum’ is the lead single from their new album, of the same name. The new record is set for release through Hellcat Records on November 17. Currently on tour in the States with The Casualties.

Worriers – The Possibility

New Side One Dummy signings, Worriers released their new record, ‘Survival Pop’ on September 29. Find the melodic-punks on tour all over Northern America this autumn.
