First play of the new Seven Stories High EP, ‘Take The Long Road Home’

Welsh outfit Seven Stories High are gearing up for the release of their ‘Take The Long Road Home’ EP on the 20th May 2016. Across the record’s six tracks proper the band channel the likes of A Day To Remember and Four Year Strong, blending them with the distinct British sound emerging from the bulging underground. From the bouncy ‘CTRL’ through the heartfelt ‘Wait For It’ and the stripped back ‘Skin Me Alive’, Seven Stories High look back at growing up and the accompanying social anxiety.

“‘Take The Long Road Home’ is not only the culmination of almost two years of writing, gigging and being impossibly self-critical but is also an anthology of tales from our childhood,” guitarist Matt Davies explains. “Despite the overall sound of the EP spanning from the He-Man soundtrack to Nigella Lawson gently reciting a long-lost quiche recipe, there is a theme that runs through its entirety. The bitter-sweetness of coming of age twinned with the crippling anxiety of any/all face-to-face encounters with another human being gifted us enough to write about for the next 10 years.”

“The music of the opening track (‘CTRL’) was written long before Seven Stories High came to be. We added lyrics that discuss the prospect of starting fresh with unrelenting ambition versus the stark reality of a dying music industry and personal responsibilities. From there we run with the idea of this untouchable ideal and the unspoken real-life barriers and so the EP name, ‘Take The Long Road Home’ is born.”

‘Take The Long Road Home’ will be available from the 20th May, and is available to stream in full below. For more on the band head to Facebook and Twitter.
