Do things your own way with The Chili Banditos’ ‘I Do (I Don’t)’

By Ben Tipple

Ever wanted something so bad, fought your way to get it only to regret your decision? Californian surf-punks The Chili Banditos know how you feel.

“This song is about wanting to fit in but then realizing that you actually want nothing to do with it once you get a taste,” vocalist and guitarist Max Idas explains. “It’s about all those people who ask you what you want to be, expecting a run of the mill answer, and when you tell them your dream is to play music or be an astronaut or whatever, they tell you to grow up and get a desk job. Fuck that.”

With that, new track ‘I Do (I Don’t) is the sound of rebellion – a huge middle finger to social expectation. As with the likes of FIDLAR and Dune Rats there’s a hint of perfectly obnoxious disdain, providing the soundtrack to parties on the beach over formal dinners. It’s brash, playful and above all, liberating.

‘I Do (I Don’t)’ will appear on The Chili Banditos’ forthcoming sophomore full-length, ‘Slam Drunk’ – due on the 3rd June. Stream the track exclusively below:
