In an astonishing show of courage and heart, Tom Gabel has revealed through Rolling Stone that as a man, he has been privately dealing with Gender Dysphoria.
As a result, Tom Gabel has detailed plans to begin a transition from man to woman through use of hormones and electrolysis treatments, eventually taking up the name Laura Jane Grace.
The full news article and interview will be published in the May 11th issue of Rolling Stone magazine, there are no details as of yet as to how, if at all this will affect the future plans of Against Me! and right now we don’t think that is the most important issue here either.
I think it goes without saying that the bravery shown by Tom Gabel to make such news public commands both respect and admiration, this could be a major stepping stone for the Punk scene as a whole in a lesson of tolerance, so please let’s get this one right by showing our full support to Tom as she makes this transition.
