The Replacements reunion rumoured to end

By Ben Tipple

Following approximately two months of reunion shows, The Replacements appear to once again be calling it a day. The sort-of announcement was made over the weekend at Primavera Porto, where Paul Westerberg revealed the band had stayed in their hotel rather than attending the scheduled soundcheck. Pitchfork reports that Westerberg continued to label themselves “lazy bastards to the end” before smashing his guitar.

The on-stage antics bring to end the short lived reunion which did see the band working on new music. Rumours of a follow up to 1990’s ‘All Shook Down’ are now being downplayed, with a new release seemingly unlikely – although not out of question.

The Replacements had unveiled new tracks ‘Poke Me In My Cage’ and ‘Whole Food Blues’.
