The Decon shambles rumbles on

Just when you thought it was safe…the Deconstruction/Download festival shambles rumbles on. After the mammoth post last night more information has come to light – and Download festivals organisers claim Deconstruction is NOT confirmed for June 1! Yep…what the hell is going on – because no-one knows. After Destiny confirmed through Fat Wreck that the 8-band Deconstruction Festival would be in the UK at the Kerrang-sponsored Download Festival at Donnington Park on June 1, we received an email from a Download spokesperson who amazingly claimed it wasn’t on! He said: “As for Deconstruction, this is not confirmed – you can say it’s a strong
rumour.” The spokesperson then claimed that P-Rock were never sponsoring the festival, adding: “P-Rock were never the sponsors of a stage at Download. So that’s not true.” But a P-Rock spokesperson hit back, telling Punktastic: “Basically we were going to sponsor the UK dates of the Deconstruction Tour and now we are not! We don’t really want to go into details, or discuss individuals. Although we think it would be fair to say we feel disappointed and let down by the events and how they took place.” So who knows what is really going on? We suspect that it will still take place at Download, but the whole situation is farcical. Decon organisers have promised to answer a stack of my questions tomorrow after meetings today…we’ll keep you posted.
