SideOneDummy welcome rapper Astronautalis into the fold

By Ben Tipple

SideOneDummy records, the heavily established independent DIY label, have spread their wings and signed rapper Astronautalis. First to express their surprise, the label notes their diverse scouting for talent, with Astronautalis (real name Andy Bothwell) having enjoyed time on the road as part of the Warped Tour, as well as citing Andrew Jackson Jihad’s Sean Bonnette as a personal friend.

“These days, if a record label can stay in business for 20 years, it is down right impressive,” Bothwell says. “But a label that can stay in business for 20 years, staying true to their indie roots, riding for DIY weirdos like me, all while being impossibly nice people? That is a christmas fucking miracle!”

Bothwell, who draws influence from indie, shoegaze, blues and more, as well as his hip-hop roots, is streaming new track ‘SIKE!’.
