No Manchester Decon date!

Punktastic can officially confirm that there will be no Manchester date for this years Deconstruction festival.

The news will come as a blow to many northern UK punk fans, who now face a trip to London.

However, despite an earlier posting, the London date of June 3 at Finsbury Park IS confirmed and will go ahead.

This news was confirmed by Dave of Destiny, the promoters of the European festival.

Dave said: “Re: June 3rd it is confirmed and it’s Finsbury Park!

“As far as the rest goes the line up you have is almost right and there will be UK add ons…

“No Mid-lands show.”

Dave added that Green Day and Blink WERE approached to play the festival, but could not play due to their Pop Disaster tour in the US, and he stated that Lars Frederiksen’s back injury could put paid to Rancid‘s appearance.

He said: “As far as Green Day goes it seems they wanted to do it but they are touring the USA with Blink 182 at that time frame which took both
of them out and then Rancid Lars back is messed up bad so..it seems unlikely at this point in time.”

In a separate piece of Deconstruction news, Punktastic hopes to learn tomorrow (Friday) if the Sex Pistols are to headline the festival.

Rumours are flying around that the band are to headline the festival because it will be held on the day of the Queen’s Jubilee.

It is thought that the band would headline the Isle of Wight festival on June 3, but this is not the case, and they will be expected to play somewhere.

Deconstruction does look an unlikely venue though, as the Sex Pistols are promoted by Solo Promotions, whilst the Deconstruction tour is run by Destiny Tourbookings.
