Have a final Holiday In The Sun

By paul

Next years Holidays In The Sun punk festival will be the last – for the foreseeable future – in the UK. The organisers have decided not to persue with the event, which in 2003 will return to Morecambe. In a statement they said: “We have decided, in the light of recent events, that next years’ Holidays in the Sun festival will be the last. We feel that the festival has come as far as it can – we are struggling to get the larger bands and it has simply become financially non-viable. The away trips are proving unsuccessful because of rip-off promoters abroad and the logistics of making something work that far from home. There have however been some great people working on HITS abroad and this in no way is a reflection of their imput. But don’t think you’ve seen the last of us yet! Firstly you will notice we are back in Morecambe – we are pleased to be back but would like to thank everyone in Blackpool for a great year this year but it would seem that the majority of people wanted a return to Morecambe – if you were one of the Blackpool voters then sorry! We intend to make Morecambe next year the biggest and best festival of all – the greatest party weekend Punk has ever seen with over 100 bands on the three stages and other events throughout the town.”
Tickets are on sale now at £50 until November 30, then £60 until end of April 2003 and £67.50 up to the show. Tickets are available from : Credit Card bookings 02476 559992 (data) or email
