Charlie Simpson to appear on Singing In The Rainforest tonight

By Ben Tipple

Singing In The Rainforest, a new factual entertainment series on UK TV station Watch, will this evening send Fightstar vocalist and singer-songwriter Charlie Simpson into the unknown.

The series sees famous musicians envelop themselves in the culture of some of the world’s most remote tribes, joining in with their rituals and lifestyles before performing the artist’s music.

Speaking to Newsbeat, Simpson described his time with the San people of Africa as a “magical experience,” going on to describe how his “music was unlike anything they’d heard before, and they’d never seen an electric guitar or piano before.”

Myleene Klass, Happy Mondays, Scouting For Girls and Glasvegas are some of the other artist to have been involved in the series, each heading to a different remote part of the globe.

With Simpson’s track due for release shortly after the airing of the episode, all proceeds will be donated to the previously nomadic San tribe.

The episode will be broadcast at 21:00 BST tonight on Watch, Sky channel 109 and Virgin Media channel 124.
