Punktastic can reveal that US ska heroes The Busdrivers have parted ways with two of their members, including singer Sterling Stokes.
And now the band, signed to Good Clean Fun Records in the UK, are holding auditions for a new guitarist, bassist and lead vocalist so that they can continue.
The band said: “We’re very sad to say that Sterlo and Dan will be moving on and going their separate ways from the band. Both have decided that the “band life” wasn’t for them right now and needed a break from our full schedule. We’re all sad about their departure, but understand their feelings and agree that it would be time for us to part ways.
“The split is definitely an amicable one and everyone’s still homeys. Needless to say, our approaching 4-week US tour in June will be cancelled, and we deeply apologize to any venues and promoters we had to back out on, and ESPECIALLY to all the fans and street team kids who were expecting to see us. We promise that the first chance we get, we will be back out to play all the places that we said we would.
“Our June 6th and May 17th shows will also be cancelled. However, WE ARE STILL playing May 11th (in Davie at Club Q) and May 18th (in Miami at The Alley) – come out to those shows and say hi, bring us cookies, etc. We are DEFINITELY still planning on doing the UK tour in August, provided we have found, trained, and hazed suitable replacements for Dan and Sterlo by then.
“On that note…The Busdrivers are now holding auditions for guitar, bass, and lead vocals. Guitarists or bassists who can handle lead vocal duties are preferred, but if you can sing like an angel and have no idea what a guitar even LOOKS like, that’s okay too. We’re looking for strong players who love to play live, have good stage presence, enjoy playing our type of music, aren’t easily offended by sarcasm and good-natured racist humor, are able to tour, and live in (or are willing to relocate to) the Gainesville area.
