Beach Slang drummer JP Flexner quits band

By Ben Tipple

Beach Slang drummer JP Flexner has announced that he’s parting ways with the band. The news comes shortly after rumours of the band’s demise spread around the internet, spurred by vocalist James Alex declaring a show at Kilby Court in Salt Lake City as their last. Those rumours have since been quashed.

In a lengthy Facebook statement, Flexner states “I am no longer in Beach Slang,” before going on to thank all those involved in the band and wishing his former band-mates all the best in the future. He cites his design and illustration career as a major factor, although declaring his interest in continuing to play in bands.

“Plus, I actually have some free time now,” the statements reads, “so let’s start a band! Nothing serious… (of course this was said at the start of BS too haha) – or maybe you know of an already established band who could use a new drummer? Even if it is just a temporary fill in… IT COULD BE ME! I’m the best at drumming I’ve ever been and I don’t want it to go to waste. Plus, I can’t imagine not still beating the heck out of my drums.”
