LIVE: Don Broco @ Tramshed, Cardiff

By Lais

Tonight sees Don Broco kick off their UK tour at Cardiff’s newest venue, Tramshed. This tour will culminate in a sold out show at the legendary Brixton Academy, so it’s safe to say the band are pretty pumped on this tour (and life in general) right now.

Opening the show are Coasts, Symmetry and Arcane Roots, who all do an absolutely stellar job at getting the crowd warmed up for the mighty Don Broco. The venue itself is a fantastic new space for bands to play, and it’s great to see new venues opening instead of being closed down.

Don Broco take to the stage with the infectious ‘I Got Sick’, taken from their most recent album ‘Automatic’. Considering they open with an unreleased album track, the crowd absolutely go off. Launching into ‘You Wanna Know’ and ‘Automatic’ prompts the crowd to go even wilder, and this is just the start.

Tonight Don Broco look overjoyed to be here, just as they always do, and it’s this very reason why it’s always such a pleasure to watch this band play live. It’s almost physically impossible to be unhappy while watching Don Broco onstage, because they always look like they’re having so much fun. When you look around the room, you see a sea of smiling faces, and it’s completely infectious.

Along with playing a lot of newer hits and recent album tracks, Don Broco haven’t forgotten their roots. We see them whip out ‘Beautiful Morning’ and the massively popular ‘Thug Workout’, complete with crowd participation (and by that, we mean press ups). It’s these little traditions that go towards making every Don Broco show so enjoyable, and that includes the famous walk when they play ‘Priorities’ during the encore.

Whether you love Don Broco or not, there’s absolutely no doubt that they’re one of the best live bands around right now. They’re a huge amount of fun, they have an unbelievable amount of bangers, and it’s pretty difficult to leave one of their shows without a huge grin on your face. It’s only going to get better.
