Funeral Diner – The Underdark

By paul

I have to be honest and say that I’ve never really been overly keen on this kind of music – it’s dark and twisted, mising gut-wrenching screams with some punishing riffs. The breakdowns are cleverly put together, and at times ‘The Underdark’ is incredibly eerie – but it’s not something I find particularly pallatable or easy to stomach. Sure, the level of musicianship is as high as you’d expect from a Revelation release – and songs like the nine-minute long synth-heavy ‘It Is Good That We Never Met’ are good – but it hasn’t made too much of a lasting impact on me. Several other reviews have claimed this is a vast improvement on the band’s earlier work, but to be honest I’m not too keen on checking out any more.
