Run For It – No You Ain’t, We Is

By Tom Aylott

Hailing from Pennsylvania and featuring members of bands you may or may not have heard of (BANGARANG & SINCERELY MONROE), RUN FOR IT are a melodic pop-punk band in the vein of THE WONDER YEARS and FALL OUT BOY.

There’s a token acoustic song splitting the album in two, but for the most part this is a collection of songs full of catchy hooks, killer riffs, pop choruses and big sing-a-longs.

Sounds good so far, right? It is good but (and it’s a big but) vocalist Tony sounds amazingly like Patrick Stump, and not only are the vocals almost identical but the song structures, hooks and melodies are eerily close to ‘Take This To Your Grave’ in places.

Comparisons between the two bands are therefore inevitable; ‘No You Ain’t, We Is’ is a great record but it’s very difficult to recommend it, simply because it’s been done and done better already. If you’re a FALL OUT BOY fan you’ll probably love this, but it’ll be a bit like whenever you knacker a pair of trainers and then buy a new pair that are exactly the same.
