Omaha – ‘Young Hearts’

By Jess Tagliani

Recently, Leicester-based quintet Omaha have been turning heads and building up an incredible buzz. It started with their 2015 release ‘Chapters’ and has intensified during tours with Leopards and D At Sea, culminating in a huge following and plenty of hype. Now, they’re setting out to prove that they’re worth the attention with the release of ‘Young Hearts’.

‘Lowest Of the Low’ provides plenty of sing-alongs, along with sweet harmonies and melodic hooks. Then there’s ‘I Wish’ and ‘Remember’, which come with fist-pumping choruses and monolithic guitar work. Pop hooks embed themselves during ‘Remember’, a track fuelled with raw passion, while ‘Wrong, But So Right’ sees frontman Jack Voss really push his vocals; he sounds scarily similar to You Me At Six’s Josh Franceschi. They both share the same stadium-filling vocals that are elephantine in size.

Omaha also know how to do slow and emotional in the form of ‘Grey’ – accompanied by nothing more than piano keys, vocalist Jack Voss demonstrates his impressive vocal range and hits the higher notes with complete ease and finesse. Title track ‘Young Hearts’ signs off this short release in style, the saucy guitar licks and a melodic structure come together very nicely.

‘Young Hearts’ is yet another exciting release from Omaha. It absolutely soars, and comes packed with raw passion and adrenaline. They’ve still got some honing to do, but they’re definitely on the right track.
