Watch the new ‘Cutting Strings’ video by Landmarks

By Ben Tipple

‘Cutting Strings’, the latest track by Manchester alternative rockers Landmarks, is borne out of adversity. Having seen equipment stolen from the Leeds studio where the band worked on their forthcoming ‘In Spite Of It All’ EP, the four-piece were adamant to continue, cementing their mantra as the EP’s title. ‘Cutting Strings’ presents their newfound maturity, waving goodbye to the pop-punk days that preceded recent events and looking towards the future. It also sees the band at their most assured, even if lyrical inspiration rose from an unusual source.

“‘Cutting Strings’ features the lyrics that we are most proud of in any song we’ve written up to this point,” the band celebrate. “It started as a simple idea with a line from ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ inspiring the chorus hook. From there we started to develop the story of a relationship on the rocks, with one half of the couple in question falling out of love with their partner.”

“The line, “it’s a distinctive human trait to make promises that we just break,” is particularly meaningful. Too many couples expect so much from one another without stepping back and appreciating the little things and the time we get to spend with those close to us. We hope this song can appeal to you, either because you relate to it on a personal level or because you just like the hooks.”

“Either way, thank you for listening and for your support,” they conclude.
