Like many, London singer-songwriter Patrick Craig draws influence for his honest lyrics from growing up. On ‘True Story’ he presents just that, a collection of songs drawn out of his experiences. Despite the heartbreak and acknowledgment of the various struggles of early adulthood, the record is ultimately one of hope. “I’m getting better, I’m getting my life back on track,” he sings on the gently uplifting ‘Your Lifejacket Is Under You Seat’.
Weaving through an impressive showcase of his inner-most thoughts, Craig delivers with endearing emotion. His voice portrays every moment of pain and anguish perfectly, alongside his cathartic self-redemption. “This record is ten true stories set to music,” he explains, “all from the past few years, and all links to the overall theme of growing up, and coming to terms with the person you are.”
“I hope you like them,” he adds. We sure do.
