First play of ‘My Room Is A Mess’ by Western Daughter

By Ben Tipple

Western Daughter are ready to turn some heads. Their blend of styles has resulted in a lofty indie sound with the smallest smattering of country. It might sound unusual on paper, but that’s testament to their slightly unconventional sound. Displaying the potential to conform neatly into a preconceived musical box, the five-piece opt to keep things interesting, not least on ‘My Room Is A Mess’.

The track forms part of their forthcoming ‘As The Sun Went Down’ EP, joined by another six new tracks. “The idea behind ‘My Room is a Mess’ was to build a grooving rhythm out of melancholy shifts in tone,” the band explain. “The song addresses vices and hope during hard times (or lack thereof).”

‘As The Sun Went Down’ is due for release on the 8th December 2015. The EP can be pre-ordered in digital format via BandCamp, with physical cassette copies soon to be available via Camp Daze and Broken Bark.
