First play of ‘Get Out’, the new track by ICYMI

By Ben Tipple

Sticking a middle finger up to anxiety is by no means easy, but on ‘Get Out’, the newest track by the Gloucestershire four-piece, ICYMI tackle it head on. Vocalist Elin Allen flows from the track’s melodic verses to the catchy chorus that unreservedly tells her mental health issues to take a walk.

“‘Get Out’ was written at a time when I was struggling a lot with mental health and the anxiety that inevitably comes with life when times get tough,” she explains. “This song was my way of saying fuck you to those anxieties, and literally telling them to get out, move along, they weren’t welcome in my head anymore. The second verse is homage to a quote that me and the boys found. This quote really spoke to me. I use the words ‘levels’ and ‘devils’ to refer to life and the different struggles we all deal with. This song was my way of saying fuck you!”

Due for release on the 17th September via Sound-hub Records, ‘Get Out’ drops ahead of the band’s tour with Northern Irish rockers Lost Avenue. For more on ICYMI head to Facebook.
