Poison the Well – ‘Botchla’
Piper: Poison The Well was a gateway for me into heavier music that still felt dynamic and expressive. The way they blend melody with chaos, and structure with unpredictability, really influenced how I think about song writing. There’s a push and pull in their music that keeps it human and volatile at the same time.

Planes Mistaken for Stars — ‘Knuckle Hungry’
Jonas: This is easily my biggest inspiration for being in a band. Growing up and going to their shows shaped me in a real way. They were always the most about it—no pretense, just pure conviction. There was this constant thread in their music of “life’s beaten us up, but we have each other, so fuck the world.” That mindset stuck with me. RIP Gared.

TouchĂ© AmorĂ© – ‘Flowers and You’
Piper: TouchĂ© AmorĂ© showed me how vulnerability and intensity can coexist without compromising either. The emotional honesty in their writing and how direct and unguarded it feels definitely shaped how I approach lyrics and performance. There’s a balance of catharsis and control that I’m always chasing.

Converge — ‘My Great Devastator’
Jonas: As abrasive as it can be, I’ve always found it beautiful. It captures anger, disappointment, desperation, and helplessness but somehow still leaves space for hope. It feels like the things people struggle to say out loud finding their way into sound, even when the lyrics aren’t explicit. You could pick almost any Converge song, but ‘My Great Devastator’ has always hit especially hard for me.

Ethel Cain – ‘Ptolemaea’
Piper: ‘Ptolemaea’ is a different kind of influence for me as it’s less about structure and more about atmosphere and emotional weight. The way it builds tension and creates this overwhelming sense of dread is something I think about a lot. It feels immersive and confrontational, like you’re being pulled into the song rather than just listening to it, and that’s a feeling I want to tap into more in our music.

‘Unadulterated’ is out now via Sumerian Records.
