“When it comes to musical references I see ourselves in the Swedish rock tradition of bands like The Hives and Refused, combined with some american stuff like The Bronx,” says Rideau vocalist Gabriel Öberg. With ‘Stand Still’, it’s easy to see why. Rideau blend the punk attitude and eccentric rock of their Swedish counterparts, and the ferocious intensity of the latter. Not hardcore, not punk and not noise-rock, the trio dabble effortlessly in all three.
“The video for ‘Stand Still’ was filmed in the countryside outside Stockholm,” guitarist Carl Magnus Palm explains. “The song is about trying to make changes in life but sometimes ending up going backwards. We shot it ourself, me and Gabriel with a friend driving the car. Most of the time with me squeezed in the car boot pushing Gabriel to run faster while syncing the text. Luckily he´s a well trained man…”
