Watch the video for Prima Vera’s ‘Instigator’

Despite only being three tracks long, Prima Vera’s ‘Floral Media’ EP cemented their prospects, delivering their unique take on off-kilter indie with a subtle hint of theatrics. ‘Instigator’, the EP’s second track, carries nods to the grandiose sounds of Panic! At The Disco but falls short of the melodramatic. Instead it’s immeasurably rawer.

“‘Instigator’ was written right after Prima Vera returned from a back-breaking, east coast tour last August,” vocalist and guitarist Bryan H. Iglesias explains. “Since I was feeling very homesick and vulnerable when I wrote the song, I really wanted to tap into those emotions for the music video. I started taking my camera everywhere I went, because I wanted to collect content anywhere I could. But I wasn’t just trying to capture a landscape, I was trying to capture real life.”

Completed by bassist Brendan Crocker and drummer John Kick, Prima Vera also open up about the video itself. “One aspect of the video shoot that I really enjoyed was the location of the performance shots,” Crocker explains, “because both videos for ‘Instigator’ and ‘Old TV’s and Memories‘ were shot in Bryan’s house, and each setting has unique aspects that don’t immediately imply that we are in a house. I really enjoyed that the video has a vague relation to Old TV’s, while looking and sounding entirely unique.”

“‘Instigator’ was one of the easiest video’s I’ve ever done,” Kick adds. “We got some really great performance shots and I was honestly shocked with how amazing they looked. Bryan and Brooklyn definitely knocked it out of the park and the result is something that the band is very proud of.”
