We at Punktastic are premiering the video for Tired Lion’s new single, ‘Cinderella Dracula’.
Hailing from Perth, Australia, this track displays the group’s sincere, hook laden and biting take on the grunge/alternative sound, fairly reminiscent of ‘Mellon Collie’ era Smashing Pumpkins.
“This was written at a time when I felt quite lost,” explains lead vocalist/guitarist Sophie Hopes, “I guess you could call it young naivety. I was young and single, ready to experience the world with a kind of ‘youthful embrace’. I had a one-night stand and what was meant to make me feel content just left me angry and frustrated at myself.”
“I wrote the lyrics down whilst waiting for this guy to leave. It was awful timing, but I guess it was my way of saying ‘Fuck you, can you get out of my house’. I felt like I’d garnered this split personality – one side being desperate for affection and vulnerable (Cinderella), the other being dark, and well, kind of mean (Dracula).”
‘Cinderella Dracula’ is a taste of Tired Lion’s upcoming yet to be titled debut album. Produced by Violent Soho’s Luke Boredam, this record will be released later this year via Island Records. Tired Lion will also be making appearances at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, which takes from the 18th to the 20th May, as well as Reading and Leeds Festival, which is happening from the 25th to the 27th August.
