This weekend (2nd and 3rd of June), Lincoln will see an invasion of punks as Crash Doubt Fest returns for its second weekender.
Punktastic has a stage this year with some of the best punk bands around from the UK and abroad, and we’re going to guide you through what we think some of the highlights are going to be. If you’re already going – well done, you’ve made a very good decision, if not – let us try and coerce you a little bit more! Here’s out stage by stage preview –
BIG CHEESE STAGE
The Big Cheese stage generally has the heaviest bands of the weekend, and you can expect Saturday to get more than a little out of hand. Heart In Hand head up the bill on the first night, and there’s little doubt that bands like The Long Haul, The Elijah, Bastions and Hang The Bastard will make an absolute racket.
Sunday sees the fantastic More Than Life and Feed The Rhino heading up the day, and with Devil Sold His Soul, Brotherhood Of The Lake, Desolated, Crossbreaker and Mallory Knox all making an appearance, it should be a fantastic stage all weekend for fans of the beefier end of rock music.
It’s a rare collection of some of the best of the current crop of UK heaviness, and we’re going to see if we can sneak off from our stage to catch a glimpse of a few of our favourites!
GO SEE ON SATURDAY: HEART IN HAND, BASTIONS, LOWER LANDS
GO SEE ON SUNDAY: MORE THAN LIFE, DEVIL SOLD HIS SOUL, BROTHERHOOD OF THE LAKE
PUNKTASTIC STAGE
The Punktastic stage this weekend is full of amazing Punk bands (some of which we’ve just watched at Slam Dunk), and with No Trigger heading up the Saturday – we’re more than a little excited for some big singalongs.
With No Trigger’s tourmates Heartsounds, Crazy Army, Bangers, Our Time Down Here, Great Cynics and many more on the saturday, we’re quietly confident we’ve got the best line up of the weekend with that Saturday (it’s not a competition – honest).
Similarly on Sunday, we can’t wait to get our teeth into watching Apologies I Have None, Astpai, Above Them, As We Sink, Random Hand and Last Witness, but finishing our day off with The Skints should be a perfect closer to a weekend packed with great bands.
GO SEE ON SATURDAY: No Trigger, Our Time Down Here, Great Cynics
GO SEE ON SUNDAY: Above Them, Apologies I Have None, Astpai
TIME WILL TELL STAGE
Finally, the Time Will Tell stage has some sterling upcoming bands, and with the opinion splitting Sharks nabbing a headlining slot, it’s sure to be an interesting one. Heights, Polar, Fighting Fiction, Veils and many more feature on the Time Will Tell Saturday line up as well, and Watch Commander are a great addition to the line up.
Sunday ends with Bleed From Within, but you have to go via The Cut Ups, Tellison, Shields Up, Hildamay and more to get there, and the stage brings a great balance to the weekend with some hidden gems you’ll want to check out. We’re going to try and watch a few of the bands on the stage as the weekend progresses, and we’re hoping the clashes aren’t too deadly.
GO SEE ON SATURDAY: SHARKS, WATCH COMMANDER, POLAR
GO SEE ON SUNDAY: TELLISON, DEPARTURES, BLEED FROM WITHIN
Overall, there’s so much to see at Crash Doubt that it’s hard not to check The Trainline for a few prices and times (£40 with a railcard and two hours on the train, if you’re wondering!), and though Lincoln’s not often named as one of UK punk’s hot spots, it definitely is this weekend.
There’s no doubt it’ll be stacks of fun, and we’ll see you at the bar/at the front/at the bar/at the bar/at No Trigger.
