Chicago four-piece Nobody Move tick all the pop-punk boxes with ‘Hips’. It veers unashamedly towards the pop side of the two and wears the badge with confidence. And yes, it’s absolutely about a girl.
“‘Hips’ is about that girl that everyone knows is no good for them,” vocalist and guitarist Zach Krugman explains. “Sometimes it takes people more time to realize that. The video is basically an exaggerated version of that. All four of us are trying to get this girl and we try what we think is “cool” to do it. Then we realize that getting this girl isn’t worth it if we’re not being ourselves, which is truly how we view things in the real world.”
As Zach hints, Nobody Move don’t take themselves too seriously in the new video. The upbeat pop-punk sound is mirrored in the clips sheer sense of fun. “We’re so excited that everyone is able to see the video. It’s great that for three minutes it might be able to put a smile on someones face,” he notes.
Their sound follows the same path. With it’s pop sensibilities and retrospective nods to pop-punks days gone by, it’s near-impossible not to smile when spinning ‘Hips’.
Released as a single earlier in the year, the track will form part of the band’s forthcoming full-length. “We’re excited to get this album out to everyone! We’ve been working super hard on it and we hope that shows when people pick it up,” Zach adds, with the record due later in the year through Imminence Records.
