Buddy Schaub (trombone) – “I don’t know if the word “obsessed” makes me sound crazy, but I have been on a non stop loop of over listening to and then taking a break and then listening on repeat to a band called PUP for the last 4 years. I don’t know what exactly it is about them, but they check literally every box for me; melody, lyrics, guitar licks, rhythm changes, shredding melodic bass, dynamics, angst. The list could go on ad nauseam. I drove 5 hours in September to finally go see them live with Jeff Rosenstock (bonus) and it was everything I’d hoped for. They released a new record just last May and it definitely reinvigorated my listening fervor. Do yourselves a favor and go drop the needle on anything by this band. I highly recommend the album ‘Morbid Stuff’.”

Chris DeMakes (guitars & vocals) – “Billy Batts & the Made Men are a band that I recently got into. They are really young, but the songs are super punk rock, with great melodies. Reminds me of early Screeching Weasel, but with a modern feel. The songs aren’t overproduced, but they’re aggressive and so much fun. Highly recommended!”

Roger Lima (guitars and vocals) – “I gotta say, currently my shout out would go to Abraskadabra. They are a Brazilian ska-punk band and their latest record, ‘Pack Your Bags’ is straight up amazing! They have so many great horn lines, interesting lyrics and just a super tight sound. Tons of good songs on the record, heavier stuff like ‘Talking To The Walls’, and ‘No Strings Attached’, fun pop vibes like ‘Merlin’ and ‘Swings And Roundabouts’. But the track ‘Killer Machine’ is the highlight for me, and I straight up wish I wrote that song! It just shreds! They have traditional ska vibes on there as well. Check out this record! It’s really well produced, too!”

JR Wasilewski (saxophone) – “I discovered Geese by reading a tweet. It said “Vampire Weekend cover Geese song at Brooklyn concert.” Being a fan of Vampire Weekend, I was curious – why  Geese? Having never heard of them, I watched the video for their song ‘Taxes’. I couldn’t tell you in that moment exactly what I loved about it, but I couldn’t stop listening. Cameron Winters’ vocals are so distinctive, the musicianship is top notch, and this band is creating music far beyond its mean age of 24. ‘Getting Killed’ was my favorite album of last year. I hope it’s one of your favorites soon, too.”

Matt Yonker (drums) – “Currently I’m really excited about what our old friends A Wilhelm Scream have coming down the pike. They have a new album ‘Cheap Heat’ that’ll be released end of February and the three tracks they’ve dropped so far are RIPPING! Also their live show will absolutely melt your face off, check them out!”
