Homecomings are looking for repair in ‘Fix Me’ video

The debut EP by Irish emo trio Homecomings is built around loss. For vocalist and songwriter Oscar Hackett, it’s a means to recover from a broken relationship. ‘Fix Me’, for which the band have now unveiled an accompanying video, captures his inner turmoil with beautiful introspection.

“I’ve always found it quite hard to move on from relationships, I guess I just find it weird to become strangers with someone you used to talk to everyday even though it’s for the best,” Hackett explains. “So naturally after spending five years in a relationship I felt quite lost and wasn’t sure what to do with myself, so like always I turned to music. I wrote this song and the rest of the EP to help get me through a rough patch and help me move past it.”

The lyrics continuously battle between moving on and looking back. “How long until I see you again,” Hackett asks, in among tales of his former partner’s new relationship. “I hope he makes you laugh the way that I did,” he sings without venom or spite. After all, through ‘Fix Me’, Homecomings are simply looking for the way forward.

‘Fix Me’ is taken from Homecomings’ debut self-titled EP, available now through Bandcamp. Watch the video exclusive below.
