Sometimes obstacles come in small packages. At least that’s the story for Better Than Never, who meet an unexpected opponent in their video for new track, ‘Back Of The Line, Kid’. The track is taken from their forthcoming ‘Homemade Hero’ EP, a theme that runs throughout the video, not least in its DIY aesthetic.
“We’ve always found it best to avoid the ‘rules’ when it comes to writing songs,” the band say of the EP. ““It’s really easier to sit their and feel you have to write/sing/play something in a certain way because it’s “pop punk”, but we found that adding influences from places and styles you might not usually hear has helped to sort of create a different, yet familiar feel to our music.”
Better Than Never have been fighting right up to the bell too, with the EP coming together at short notice. Having written the tracks for the record, the band decided last minute that they weren’t quite right, leading to them reworking and rewriting in the months leading up to their time in the studio. Eventually it all came together at The Ranch Production House in Southampton. But you know what they say right? Better late than never.
‘Homemade Hero’ will be available from the 19th February via Fox Records. It is available to pre-order on iTunes.
Better Than Never will be touring alongside Coast To Coast on a co-headline tour in late March and early April. They will also be supporting Speak Low If You Speak Love on the 30th January at Birmingham’s Asylum.
