Don’t let the opening moments of London four-piece MassMatiks’ new track fool you; ‘4AM’ is filled with visceral and unfiltered anger. Vocalist George Peploe shifts from the forlorn to the spitting as the guitar riffs drive the track forward into its explosive climax, one that does anything but hold back.
“4AM is about a time when my ex would call me up, drunk and bragging that she is seeing someone else,” he explains. “There was this attitude that she was ‘winning’ the break up, but I soon came to realise that if she was so happy and so comfortable, then why would she need to tell me? People have experienced both sides of this story and I feel the to-the-point lyrics show the raw honesty and emotion of a break up that so many people have been through.”
‘4AM’ puts MassMatiks firmly on the map, having recently bubbled under the surface. Their second single precedes a tour across the UK with Rory Indiana, kicking off in on the 17th June. MassMatiks will also headline London’s Old Blue Last on the 13th July before heading to Y Not Festival on the 21st.
