First play of the new James Barrett single, ‘You Used To Remind Me Of The Sky’

By Glen Bushell

It’s no secret that Pennsylvania has become the spiritual home of alternative music over the last few years, and singer/songwriter James Barrett is another fine example of that. Barrett has also been in good company as of late, recording his ‘Metamorphosis’ EP with Nick Bruzzese of Man Overboard at The Lumberyard, a studio he co-owns with The Early November maestro, Ace Enders. Today we are bringing you the first taste of the EP, with an exclusive listen to the single ‘You Used To Remind Me Of The Sky’.

“The song was a poem I wrote in my sophomore year of high school,” explains Barrett. “I remember writing it and posting it online years ago and people liked it, but then I completely forgot about it until this past spring when I added music to it. The song is a story of a relationship with someone you don’t know very well but know well enough to be infatuated. It kinda shows how one day something could be beautiful and wonderful, and the next it could be dull and so different.”

’Metamorphosis’ is released on September 2nd via Ronald Records and is available to pre-order now.
