Berlin indie-rock band, PABST, are not a fan of vampires. That didn’t stop them using the creatures of the night as metaphor for their excellent new single, ‘Ocean Cruise’. Recorded by Cult Of Luna’s Magnus Lindberg, the track is filled with bombastic rhythms and a slick, driving overtone that takes cues from many 90’s brit rock heroes. Today were are thrilled to bring you the first play of ‘Ocean Cruise’.
“Although, frankly, I think that vampires kinda suck (no pun intended), I just wanted to make a song about one,” explains vocalist/guitarist, Erik Heise. “I had the first two lines of the song’s lyrics already laying around: “She swallowed blood that wasn’t her’s, so what do you think she’ll do to you?” and went with it.
“I later stumbled across this weird hair colouring chalk that Kylie Jenner used and where they named a hue Ocean Cruise… like that the character was born: a hipster girl with blue hair who kills everyone falling for her. Musically, the song has a very liquid feel to it that goes pretty well with the name. It’s also probably the most wall-of-sound kind of song we’ve made so far, which makes it a lot of fun to play live.“
‘Ocean Cruise’ is taken from the forthcoming EP, ‘Skinwalker’, which is released on November 11th via Crazysane Records. Pre-orders are available now, and the band have a handful of shows coming up which you can see the dates for below.
