Welcome to Punktastic, v.2015

By Ben Tipple

Over the past few months the team has been busy beavering away on some improvements and changes to make your online experience even better. The time has finally arrived for us to unveil the next generation of Punktastic.

First and foremost (and we are very excited about this), we welcome our brand new section, Punktastic POV. We’ve always been proud of our stance on new music, but never really had a platform to get across exactly what we are passionate about.

POV hosts new artists and tracks that we think are definitely worth your time, showcased in an easy to use, instant way. Whether you have 5 minutes to spare, or an hour dedicated to finding new music, POV is the place to go. It’s not defined by which bands are releasing an album when, or by who is on tour, but simply by the quality of the music we get to listen to and want to share. Check it out now to see just why we are so excited about it.

We’ve also made a number of smaller changes that just make the site that little bit better. The search function for example is now far more responsive, and navigating our huge catalogue of features, news and reviews is now much simpler. Things even load more quickly. There are also a few small stylistic changes here and there, but nothing too drastic.

In with the new means out with the old, and it hasn’t passed us by that the forums are no longer a true representation of what Punktastic is about. With that in mind, the time has come for us to wave goodbye to a defining era. To those forum users of old, don’t be too down heartened. Although it’s no longer possible to post, we’re keeping everything as it was in an archive so people can relive the conversations that helped shape the music industry for the last decade.

Finally, to take things forward, we are asking for support from our own fans. As the online world evolves, it’s increasingly difficult for independent publications like us to cover costs through advertising. We don’t want to plaster the site in frustrating full body or video adverts. We refuse to demand money from up-and-coming bands for coverage, or introduce sponsored posts that might bring our integrity into question. Instead, we are looking to our readership for support. Find out more about getting involved at our new ‘Support Punktastic’ page.

That’s about it. Welcome to the next era of Punktastic!
