Former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland has passed away, aged 48. Details are still unclear, but according to a post on Weilands official Facebook page, the singer died in his sleep during a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota. The post said the following:
“Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected.”
Scott Weiland is most known for his time as vocalist for Stone Temple Pilots between 1986 and 2002 (then again between 2008 and 2013), and also was the front man of rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, along with members of Guns ‘N’ Roses. He has also maintained a solo career, as well as his current project The Wildabouts.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
