Cumbrian punks are stepping up their game with their forthcoming ‘Snakes & Ladders’ EP, having unveiled the brilliant ‘All Hell Broke Loose’.
The trio have steadily been releasing video updates from the studio over the last few weeks, all of which have now been compiled into one handy in-the-studio documentary.
“For this EP we didn’t need to put 36 guitar tracks on a chorus or spend a day getting the reverb effect we wanted for a bridge, there was none of that,” the band reveal of the recording process. “The drums and bass went down live, and we didn’t spend much time layering the guitar. There’s only three of us in the band, so we can’t do all that live anyway. We think it’s all the better for being an EP, because it’s only about 15 minutes long and there’s no filler, and it’s just us doing what we do best.”
Colt 45 will be appearing at Rebellion Fest in August as well as Camden Rocks and a handful of local events.
“Camden Rocks is big news for us,” they exclaim. “There are some really big bands playing this year and every venue in Camden just comes alive for it – and you can imagine what Camden’s like just on a normal weekend. ”
“After that we’ve got Rebellion Fest in Blackpool, and that’s one of the biggest punk festivals in Europe. We do consider ourselves to be punk, because it’s not just about how the music sounds, it’s about your approach to it and that DIY ethic. You don’t need a Mohican and a denim jacket to be punk – we’re hardly the Sex Pistols, but that’s always something that we’re going to identify with.”
‘Snakes & Ladders’ will be available from the 29th April via Visible Noise Records.
