Having closed its doors on Friday night due to structural issues, the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire has released an official statement detailing the temporary closure and the shows affected.
“Following a formal inspection of the roof of O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, owned and operated by Academy Music Group, on Friday 4 December 2015, the venue was closed as a precaution for further inspections and safety checks from Monday 7 December 2015,” the statement begins.
“The following shows and events at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire will be affected due to essential maintenance work.”
“Please note that all tickets will remain valid until further notice for any postponed or rescheduled shows, and any ticketing enquiries should be directed to your point of purchase.”
“The Courteeners’ gig on the evening of Friday 4 December 2015 was postponed until further notice.”
“The Grade II listed O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, is a 112-year-old theatre designed and built for musical entertainment and variety. A much-loved and iconic venue, it hosts over 180 events per year, attracting some 250,000 visitors.”
“We continually invest in all of our theatre venues. Safety and amenities for our customers and staff is paramount and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience this unexpected maintenance and repair may cause.”
“We are undertaking remedial works and aim to be fully open within a matter of weeks.”

The list of affected shows and events include UPSIDE, One OK Rock, Black Star Riders, Clutch, Family, Kodaline, Kim Wilde’s Christmas Party, Fields of the Nephilim and Hawkwind.

Academy Events presents Family – RESCHEDULED and VENUE CHANGE – This show will now take place on Monday 14 December and be at O2 Forum, Kentish Town. All tickets are valid for the new date and venue or refunds from point of purchase for customers who cannot make it.
