Japanese post-rock pioneers, Mono, have announced details of their album, ‘Requiem For Hell.’
“This album is a series of songs from a flood of inspirations in 2015,” explains Mono guitarist, Takaakira Taka Goto, who wrote and composed the entire album, “After writing song after song and giving them titles, we stumbled upon Dantes Divine Comedy and the story struck a chord with us. Divine Comedys story about travelling down to Hell, through to purgatory, then from Heaven to reality, turned out to be the same theme. This is when we decided to use Gustave Dóres illustration from Divine Comedys last scene as the main cover.”
The album is due for release on October 14th via Pelagic Records in Europe, which comes ahead of Mono’s November co-headline UK tour with French black metal/shoegaze band, Alcest.
