METZ team up with John Reis for new track, ‘Caught Up’

By Ben Tipple

METZ have teamed up with John Reis of Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes and Rocket From The Crypt, for the release of Record Store Day 7″.

The record sees the John merge with METZ for two new tracks, ‘Caught Up’ and ‘Let It Rust’. It sees METZ take a momentary step away from their Sub Pop Records home, instead seeing release through Swami.

“While we the hard-working music industry professionals of Sub Pop Records typically wallow in lovably smug self-congratulation, at the moment we find ourselves just dizzy with professional envy at the news that METZ and Swami John Reis (Rocket From the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes) have collaborated on two deeply awesome new songs which we have no current plans to release,” Sub Pop announce. “The ‘Let It Rust’ b/w ‘Caught Up’ 7” single will come out on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 16th, 2016 through Swami Records (and though we have nothing but affection and esteem for the Swami label and the folks who operate it, still: DIZZY!).”

The release will sit alongside METZ’s split EP with Mission To Burma, also available on Record Store Day this time via Sub Pop Records themselves.

In anticipation of the John Reis project, ‘Caught Up’ is streaming online now.

METZ will be in the UK for appearances at the Drive Like Jehu curated ATP Festival later this month, as well as Field Day in June. They will also be hitting up a number of European venues and festivals in between.
