itoldyouiwouldeatyou stream new track, ‘Get Out Of Bed’

By Ben Tipple

There’s seven members in itoldyouiwouldeatyou. It goes some way to indicate the band’s multi-layered sound, from the twinkly emo bass to the brass section and bells. Far from cluttered though, ‘Get Out Of Bed’ is sprawling yet concise. Each snippet of creativity is cleverly and carefully placed, presenting a far more polished sound from the band than what has come before.

“In short, I was depressed and didn’t want to get up,” says vocalist Joey Ashworth of the track. “I tried not to obsess and I couldn’t, I tried not to despair and I couldn’t. Instead I put all my effort and hope into a relationship, which, sidenote, no one should do ever. This song is about recognising that desperation and having a go at shrugging it off in a self-aware way.”

The band will be releasing a new EP in September too.
